POP SONG COVERS
Statement of Inquiry: This unit will investigate the common elements of music. We will discover what defines a genre, culture or tradition and how to transform the basic elements to make a new song.

Criterion A- Test of scales and major/ minor chords theory.
Criterion B- Perform a cover song as a group on instruments of choice.

By the end of the year students are expected to be able to:
Rehearse, perform and record a cover song as a group on instruments of choice.
Work out a major scale and major/ minor/ diminished chords and extensions.
Recap chord inversions.
Learn playing/ vocal techniques on instrument of choice.
Learn rehearsal/ recording techniques.
Present a short project on a cover song of their choice, noting similarities and differences.
