REGGAE/ DUB
Statement of Inquiry: We will investigate the musical processes involved in composing and performing a reggae song. We will place the music in it's historical and cultural context, looking at links to seemingly unconnected styles.

Exploration to Develop:
Criterion A- Presentation - reggae artist. Keywords.
Criterion B- Compose, rehearse/perform and record simple reggae song with dub version.
Criterion C- Creative uses of dub effects and arranging skills.
Criterion D- Arts process journal, self and peer assessment.
By the end of the year students are expected to be able to:
Use their knowledge of Ground Bass, chords, and recording effects to compose a Reggae/Dub tune.
Present a personal project on Reggae.
Investigate cultural and historical links to other music- African, Caribbean, Mento, Ska, Rocksteady and others.
Learn simple programming techniques for Mixcraft/ GarageBand - drums and bass lines.
Place Reggae in historical and cultural context.
Learn the characteristics of Reggae- offbeat, syncopation, skank, bubble, one drop and the instruments associated with this music.
